Welcome to Read House
Read House was opened in 1999 by the Duke of Kent. It is a purpose-built residential care home designed to provide an ideal environment for the care of the elderly. Read House provides a home for adults over 65years with a variety of needs, from those that are still quite independent to others who may need more help due to physical restrictions or memory loss, including dementia. Read House is wholly owned by Essex Blind Charity and so has a special interest in the care of people with a visual impairment.
Read House has an enviable location on the Esplanade, overlooking the greensward and the sea. The 36, en-suite bedrooms are situated over three floors. (Greensward, Marina View & Treetops) All have wonderful views, either over the ocean, the greensward or the lovely private garden.
Read House provides the people that live here with a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort is of prime importance.
At all times our staff preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all people within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the persons’ changing needs. Such needs may be medical, cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional or social
Read House is proud to be a home that values diversity amongst both staff and residents, Applications are encouraged from everyone regardless of their age, sex, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, disability or nationality.
